Ta Joela

Ta Joela (Joel) became known for his razor-sharp sketches, online content, and work for Supergaande. His humor is quick, sharp, and relatable, but it does not tell his whole story. In this theatre performance, he chooses a more personal perspective and takes the audience back to his childhood.

He grew up in an asylum seekers' centre, an environment full of uncertainty and tension. It was precisely there that he discovered how powerful humor can be: as a way to put things in perspective, to connect, and to stay afloat. With a mix of sharp observations, personal stories, and humor that sometimes grates, Ta Joela shows where his urge to create and to laugh comes from.
