Rob Kemps

The greatest chansonnier of all time is not a Frenchman. He is a Belgian from Flanders who spoke French. A man from Schaerbeek, who left home and hearth to achieve worldwide fame in Paris. Afterwards, he wandered the world, eventually finding peace on an island deep in the Pacific Ocean via Berlin, Moscow, and New York. He spent his final days on Hiva Oa. And that is where he is buried.

For Rob Kemps, it is clear: Jacques Brel is the greatest of all time. After the success of 'Hemel op aarde' (Heaven on Earth), the subject for his next program was therefore already set. In 'Laat me niet alleen' (Don't Leave Me Alone), Rob now takes us over the world. In Brel's footsteps. With equal humor and emotion, he talks about the music and, above all, the life of his hero. And in doing so, also about his own life. Rob cannot help it. Because a life without Brel is no life.

Rob Kemps is an entertainer and writer, known from the Snollebollekes and the TV program 'Chansons!'. His fascination with Père-Lachaise Cemetery led to the successful theatre production 'Hemel op aarde' (Heaven on Earth), in which, as a passionate storyteller, he takes the audience on a journey through stories full of history and personal memories. That left him wanting more, so he is back with his new show.
