In this theatrical lecture, Teun van de Keuken uses sharp insights and humor to expose how the meat industry influences our thinking and behavior. He takes you behind the scenes and shows why quitting meat is so difficult and why things can be done differently.

Why do we eat animals, knowing how much suffering it causes? And what does that choice mean for our planet and health? In this theatrical lecture, Teun van de Keuken takes you behind the scenes of the meat industry.

Drawing on insights from his book *Dieren zijn ook mensen* (Animals Are Also People), he explores why it is so difficult to give up meat, even for himself. Together with program maker Kees Foekema, he unravels how historical choices, political policies, and clever marketing have shaped our eating habits.

With sharp analyses, relatable examples, and humor, Teun shows that eating meat is not a law of nature, but the result of a carefully constructed system. The conclusion is both confronting and hopeful: it is not just animals that are wrapped up; we are too. But a fairer and healthier food system is possible.
